Capgemini CEO Paul Hermelin has denied any plans of selling part of the group’s business in a letter to the employees, a copy of which I have obtained from my friends at Capgemini. He called it a “rumour surfaced in the Indian press” and selling such key areas as FSI and retail is out of question.
“I strongly deny this as unfounded speculation. Selling such an important activity is out of the question for the Capgemini group and has never been considered”
The rumour in question was a press report yesterday that Bangalore-based Infosys Technologies is acquiring the consulting arm of Capgemini catering to BFSI (banking and financial services) and retail sectors.
He also took the opportunity of attributing the reason behind such a claim as the competitive edge and professionalism of the team.
