Intel LogoIntel has intensified the price war with price cuts on a number of microprocessors. The new price list (PDF) is available on the Intel site. Q6600, a Core 2 Quad processor running at 2.4GHz, has seen a whopping 50% slash in price - down to $266 from $530.


Core 2 Duo E4400’s price has been cut by 15% bringing it down to $113. The Pentium E2140’s from $74 to $71, a reduction of four per cent. Celeron D now costs $36, as against $39 before. Two Celeron M processors for laptops have seen price cuts as well, by 20%. Some Xeon processors too have seen price cuts.

As the price war hots up, end-users like us have reason enough to rejoice. Both AMD and Intel vying for market share are pushing their technology further while keeping pricing competitive.
