While the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child Organization) program was earlier turned down by the Indian government, the HRD (Human Resource Development) ministry has now taken an ambitious plan of making $10 laptops a reality which is one-tenth the proposed price of OLPC. A Times of India report says that the efforts thus far have yielded designs for a laptop that would cost about $47, while a $10 system remains the ultimate goal.
