Ban Karo! Social Spam Filtering

Recently TRAI had launched Do-Not-Call registry to protect your cell-phones from being bombarded by the telemarketing calls. So be it a credit card company or a travel agency or wait maybe a holiday package that is being going to be offered to you on the other side of the phone, you can still be spammed, at least thats my belief in TRAI.

But now, folks at maxHeap Technologies have come up with an innovative solution to this mess. With their new endeavour called bankaro.com they want people themselves to use their social network to ban these annoying telemarketing calls.
Ban Karo has been designed as a special-purpose social network. Every user receives a set of new telemarketing spam numbers on a periodic basis, via SMS, the website, or browser extensions. These numbers are passed through the user’s circle of trust [connections that (s)he’s built up in the network].
The circle of trust, in turn, acts as a social filtering mechanism which ensures that only those numbers which are most likely to call up the user and irritate him/her are on the list.

They have a demo video
