Windows Media Player Can’t Play Files With Compressed ID3 Header

I had downloaded some mp3 tracks over torrent. All files played fine. Next time I tried playing, WMP refused to play them. Seeking help from web I found out the problem is due to compressed ID3 tag info. The problem as stated on Microsoft site is -

You are trying to play an MP3 file that contains compressed ID3 headers. The ID3 header is a portion of the file that stores the song’s album information (for example, the song name, artist name, album name, and genre). This information is sometimes called a “tag”.

To fix this problem, you need to remove the ID3 tags using any non-Microsoft ID3 tag editor which you can get from download.com. Once you remove the ID3 tags you will now be able to play the tracks. Doing this however may corrupt the file. So, remember to keep a backup before you go ahead resetting tag info.
